TIANA  (2025)

93 Maple Ave, Hartford, CT

This mural is based off of a photograph by local Hartford photographer, Keith Claytor. It features my friend Tiana Correa, a talented model and photographer, whose dynamic pose radiates confidence and individuality.

I was immediately drawn in by the lighting on her face and the elegance of her long draping braids. The way they flowed to the ground – weaving a visual metaphor for unity, strength, connection and collectiveness – felt like an antidote to combat the political and social instability taking hold across the globe.

I decided to hover a dragonfly, a timeless symbol of transformation, slightly behind her, serving as a guiding presence and linking Tiana’s poised strength with the theme of positive growth and adaptability. Our world continues down the path of rapid change, and many cultures view the dragonfly as a messenger from the spiritual realm, carrying insight and wisdom about life’s fleeting nature or guidance on transitions, so I found it fitting.
